Fernie Wedding photographers // Adventure & Love

Fernie is a beautiful place. It’s a picturesque little ski town nestled up in the rocky mountain range. The town has quite a history dating back several decades which center around its ski and snowboard culture. The Fernie ski hill has always been a favorite among Canadian ski resorts, and since I grew up in the small town of Elkford, just 40 minutes away from Fernie, the place has always held a special nostalgic place in my heart. We love that we can be Fernie Wedding Photographers, because it’s an incredible place to get married.

One of the most amazing spots in Fernie is the famous Island Lake Lodge, and we were super stoked when Josh and Whitney contacted us and told us they were going to be having their wedding there. Having grown up in the area, I’d been familiar with the lodge since I was a kid, and Ive got some really great memories of spending time there with my family, so naturally it was an awesome trip down memory lane photographing a wedding there.

The place is just as beautiful as I remembered, and Josh and Whitney’s wedding made it all the more beautiful. The backdrop of the enormous mountain range behind the epic island in the middle of the tranquil high altitude lake (I know I could pretty much stop there) made for a great place to have their wedding ceremony. The fabulous hiking trails winding through the old growth cedar forest down to the epic lake views made for a perfect place to take their portraits. And the classic log cabin Lodges made for an amazing dinner and party venue.

In short, Josh and Whitney’s beautiful mountain wedding was fantastic. Congratulations Josh and Whitney, we had such an amazing time with you two, and thank you for letting us photograph you guys up in the mountains!!
