This is a bit of a long story, and how I start may not seem to make any sense, but trust me, it will.
When I was 20 years old I decided to move to Mexico for a few months with some friends of mine. We lived in Mazatlan and I traveled around while I was there. There are a lot of great memories, but I’ll never forget the time I went to Puerto Vallarta and my friends told me about this incredible little surf town called Sayulita. They said I would love it, so we went one day to check it out, and yeah, turns out I really loved it. Fast forward about 9 years. Sabrina and I are starting our first official year as wedding photographers when we get contacted by Steve and Mika. They wanted to hire us for their elopement in Vancouver, and when we met up to discuss the details they let us know that the elopement would be their legal wedding, and they were planning on having a ceremony and party the next year in Mexico. They asked if we knew of any good places and after a few seconds of thought I mentioned to them how years I spent a few days in this incredible little surf town called Sayulita, and how I always thought it would be an incredible place for a wedding. Their eyes lit up as they excitedly told me that their close friend had also recommended Sayulita, and how it looked amazing! I assured them it was. Fast forward another six months and we again are contacted by Steve and Mika. They let us know that they decided Sayulita was the place for their wedding, and they wanted us to be there with them to capture it. What an amazing experience we have had with these two incredible people.
Sayulita has gotten quite a bit busier since I was first there ten years ago now, but it amazingly has managed to completely retain its small surf town charm. It was so great to come back to a place I had such fond memories of, and to be there photographing Steve and Mika’s big day. It was also incredible to be able to experience the beautiful Teitiare Estates. The grounds, amazing private beach, and classic Mexican architecture are to die for (if you love all things Mexico.) If you are thinking of planning your wedding in Sayulita make sure you contact wedding planner Courtney from Sunset Soiree, she’s fantastic and she surfs.
We would like to thank you Steve and Mika for allowing us to be a part of both of your incredible days. Thank you for letting us capture your elopement, and thank you for bringing us with you to such an incredible place.
